Advocacy with Dashiell Meier - Arroyo Creek Room
As a proud member of the disability community, Dashiell advocates for inclusion and a recognition of and end to ableism. He spoke at the United Nations about health equity for people with Trisomy 21/Down syndrome and regularly speaks at the Stanford Medical School. As a Special Olympics Global Messenger and National Down Syndrome Society Ambassador, Dashiell has met with members of Congress virtually and in person. He has also traveled to Sacramento to meet with California state legislators. Dashiell has spoken to high school and university students, global companies, and community groups about ableism and the history of Down syndrome. His films, stories and comics center on disability and social justice. |

Becoming an Inventor with Jimmy Uharriet, Community Partner of Project Invent - Butano Creek Room
Jimmy Uharriet is a community advocate and inventor who became blind after a life-changing accident in 2016. He partnered with Project Invent, a design-thinking program that works with students to create technologies that address real community needs. Together, they developed innovative cane modifications that improve safety and independence for people who are blind or visually impaired. Jimmy later returned to work and continues to use his experience to inspire others. At this event, Jimmy will share his journey and speak about how people with disabilities can become Project Invent Community Partners and help create future inventions with Project Invent. |

Mental Health with AllCove - Arroyo Creek Room
This presentation teaches you about self-compassion and coping skills and how both can help support your mental and emotional well-being. We will begin by talking about self-compassion and practicing how to be kind to yourself, especially during hard times. We will discuss ways to practice it in everyday life, like positive self-talk and giving yourself grace. The presentation also covers coping skills, what they are, why they’re important, and the different types they can help you manage stress and strong emotions. In this workshop, you will learn practical ways to use coping skills in your daily life. An interactive activity is included that combines both self-compassion and coping skills, helping you practice these tools together in real-life scenarios. You can walk away with ideas to build healthy habits that you can use every day. |

She received her J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law and her LL.M. in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate from Golden Gate University. Ellen lives in East Palo Alto with her husband and their two boys (her older son has high-functioning autism), a Siberian husky mix named Rosie, and a kitty named Skittles. |
