Advocacy with Dashiell Meier - Arroyo Creek Room

​As a proud member of the disability community, Dashiell advocates for  inclusion and a recognition of and end to ableism. He spoke at the United Nations about health equity for people with Trisomy 21/Down syndrome and regularly speaks at the Stanford Medical School. As a Special Olympics Global Messenger and National Down Syndrome Society Ambassador,  Dashiell has met with members of Congress virtually and in person. He has also traveled to Sacramento to meet with California state legislators. Dashiell has spoken to high school and university students,  global companies, and community groups about ableism and the history of Down syndrome. His films, stories and comics center on disability and social justice.

Learn from Golden Gate Regional Center, Department of Rehabilitation, and AbilityPath about the different career and post-secondary opportunities available for transition-age youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Learn how these organizations work together to support youth in exploring jobs, internships, vocational programs, and adult services. Panelists will share practical insights, highlight resources, and answer your questions about preparing for meaningful work and independent adult life.

  • Practice a passion pitch to showcase your strengths and interests
  • Explore resume tips, reflection exercises, and post-interview follow-up strategies

Relationship Building with LeTusa - Butano Creek Room

As we grow and develop our sense of identity, relationships with friends, family, partners, and other important people in our lives can evolve. This interactive workshop will provide a safe, supportive space to explore what that looks like and learn strategies for:
  • Building healthy boundaries
  • Having safe and respectful conversations
  • Advocating for yourself and your needs

LeTusa will guide discussions on relationships, identity, and making thoughtful choices. Parents and members of a participant’s circle of support are welcome to join.

Housing Options with Brent Day Program, FHAR, and Housing Choices - Arroyo Creek Room 

Learn about the variety of housing options available for individuals connected with Regional Centers. This workshop will help participants and their support networks understand:
  • The different types of housing—from licensed group homes to independent apartments
  • Steps and requirements for each housing option
  • What day-to-day life looks like in each setting and how services are provided
Panelists from licensed group homes, Independent and Supported Living Residences (IGRs), and Housing Choices will present individually, provide takeaway materials, and answer questions.
